It's all about colours...

Buying and matching furnishing fabrics can be a real challenge! I would like to say that it gets easier when you are in a new space and trying to match everything at once, but nope! The difficulty level is always the same! So, how to help yourself and avoid a headache when you are dreaming about new curtains? How to choose the right product?
A few words about theory:
The most important aspect is your knowledge of the colour spectrum and how the colours fit together. No matter what interior style you prefer, it is always helpful to understand how the colours match and contrast one another in order to create a perfect space for yourself!
Primary colours are shown below, forming a triangle from which we can make many other colours by mixing the primary shades:
Now, If we mix all the colours that are touching each other together we get a wheel as shown below:
It's easy, isn't it? Please pay attention to how we placed those new colours - they are called "secondary"
The third step is...yes, you're right - mix the colours again! They are called "tertiary colours" and you can see them below:
Colours next to each other on the wheel are called harmonious colours eg. turquoise, blue and violet are harmonious colours. If you buy a blue sofa and add turquoise and violet decorative cushions they will always match! This is the first step to making interior design easy!
The second key is to find complementary colours -  look directly across the colour wheel eg. the opposite of blue is orange.
Look at the picture:
And again, if you are dream about an orange armchair and worry about what colour cushion to choose - use the wheel! A blue cushion would be a great idea!
I hope that this short outline helps you to choose matching fabric for your interior.
Take a seat, look around you, define what colour you see and find out what you need to create a perfect look.
